The technical definition of a point of light:
“the set of the lamp (or a socket controller or not) and of the devices switching it on and off“.

In Interior Design a point of light becomes an element in harmony with its environment, forming an integral and essential part of it. It is its focused design that characterizes the transition of rooms rather than giving “form and substance” to a space. The play of light (and shade) to define time and rhythm of a home or in a working environment.

The approach by an Interior Designer to the theme of “points of light” cannot be placed in pre-defined patterns. The elements to be taken into consideration are various and all related (hence the uniqueness) to the environmental context in which we have been asked to act.

Therefore:

• The choice of one type of light rather than another one. Choice grounded on optical physics as well as on energy saving policy.
• The lightning and the form of the point of light from the emotional viewpoint. As each place is defined by unambiguous characteristics and, consequently, the need for lights that would enhance space and the related emotional message.
