Combining the natural transparency of glass with artisan decoration to create vases, chandeliers, bottles, bowls in blown glass in a modern-style concept to re-propose the eternal glamour of the antique art of the Glass Master.
The Art of Glass has profound and ancient traditions. It is around 1400 that Venezia starts to consider blown glass as art expression. “Therefore, the first crystal clear glass appears in the second half of the XV century” – reports an article of the Venetians’ Civic Museums published on Promovetro - “on which painters [ ... ] draw, using blend coloured enamel, scenes of allegorical triumph, flowers, fruit, mythical figures originating from paintings and engravings. And also the form shapes of the glass highlight the inspiration drawn from vases, cups, silver and golden plates of the period“. But its roots are to be traced more and more back in the past, during the period of the Unni’s and Longobardi’s incursions in the V century that caused the exodus of people escaping to the Venetian lagoon. They are artistic but also historic roots, telling the Story of a town and of its culture which originated just during that tormented period. Venetia et Forum Iulii. Venezia and its History. Murano and its Glass. There is the core of an inimitable art for it contains history, passion, ideals and dreams through the centuries.
600 years later, the communicative qualities of the Glass in its various art expressions and work remain unchanged. The artistic course of the Masters of Glass has shown flexibility and dynamism able to fuse tradition and innovation combined in perfect harmony. The way in which glass is treated, the creation process from idea to form s still unchanged. Every product is the result of the hands and the intelligence of a workgroup: a team of creative people able to give visual and tactile consistency to very precise artistic views.
The Masters of Class of the Murano island represent all this. Today.
Ammurania, the Island of Murano, founded by Altinati refugees, “became very soon most important for artistic glass work, tank to a decree of the Serenissima Repubblica in 1295 that ordered the transfer of the furnaces from Venezia, for danger of fire as most of the venetian buildings were built in wood.” (ref. Murano - Wikipedia). And afterwards, when the Islamic production slowed down, glass work became the Art of Glass, which led Murano to become its artistic symbol in the world.
